International Aktion Club Service Initiative
The focus of the International Aktion Club Service Initiative is an organization called Sleeping Children Around
the World (SCAW). SCAW is a nonprofit organization based in Toronto, Ontario. www.scaw.org
The mission of Sleeping Children Around the World is to provide bed kits to children in need throughout the developing
world. This is carried out through Aktion Clubs donating $28 per kit. Each kit contains a sleeping mat, pillow,
sheet, blanket, mosquito net (if applicable), clothes, towel and school supplies.
Kiwanis International has provided a grant of $10,000 and will match each Aktion Club’s donation of $200 towards the
initiative. Upon delivery of the kits, the Aktion Club receives a photo and letter from the recepients. |
District Aktion Club Service Initiative
The Cal-Nev-Ha District Aktion Clubs undertake a Special Service Initiatve at the Aktion Club Distirct Convention.
The initiative is selected at meetings held at the Mid-Year Kiwanis Conferences. Aktion Club Members and Advisors
are invited to attend meetings held at each conference site. Clubs unable to participate are requested to submitt
their suggestions. Aktion Club Convention attendees work on the the project during the convention. Clubs members
unable to attend are also given the opportunity to contribute to the project. |
Club Service Projects
Working together to make their community and the world a better place one child and one community at a time,
this is the service mission of Aktion Club. Each Aktion Club defines its own service project priorities.
Each club works to raise the funds to carry out these projects. Each Club undertakes the work to accomplish
the mission striving to make their community and the world a better place. |
